W. C. “Wayne” Hensley, 92, of Huntersville, NC, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at CMC Northeast, Concord, NC. He was born in Lynchburg, VA, on December 4, 1916, to the late Robert Lee Hensley and Berta Lee Vest Hensley. He was also preceded in death by his son, John Wayne Hensley. He was a self-employed carpenter, and a veteran of the US Army. Wayne formerly raced motorcycles in North and South Carolina. He was known as “Pop Hensley’s”. People would gather on his farm to watch motorcycles race.
