Vivian J. Dungey, 79, of Cassopolis, made her heavenly ascension on Saturday May 25, 2013, in Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo with her family at her side.Vivian was born December 14, 1933 to Harry and Taddie Mae (Evans) Lindsey. She married William Norman Dungey August 12, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, and their union was blessed with two children. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded by her parents and one brother Harold Lindsey. Vivian was the first black female detective/lab technician in the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and in southwest Michigan. She loved the Lord.
Her hobby was shopping, shopping, and shopping. As a young woman she was a singer on the Chitlin’ Circuit. She sang with Little Richard and Junior Walker. She will be remembered for the stylish way she dressed and carried herself. Vivian was a member of the House of Prayer Community Church, Cassopolis, until her passing.
Family and friends will greatly miss Vivian. She is survived by one daughter, Janine (Steven)Van Cleave of Indianapolis, one son, William (Marinella) Dungey, Jr., of Los Angeles, California; five grandchildren, Cara (Lamanche’) Ware, of Villa Rica, Georgia, Kyeela Conner of Cassopolis, Stefone Conner of Cassopolis, Leoni Dungey of San Bernadino, California, William N. Dungey III of Phoenix, Arizona; seven great grandchildren, Tyler Dungey, Azavier Dungey, Tatiana Ware, Raiden Cifuentes , Jakya Conner, Ziheir Conner, Zariah Conner; and a host of nieces and nephews.
