Virginia Rose Velasquez was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 29, 1942. She passed away August 14, 2022, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the eldest child of Albert and Carmen (Juarez) Velasquez and the first grandchild of paternal grandparents Cipriano and Maria (Correa) Velasquez and of maternal grandparents Jose and Catalina (Rico) Juarez.
In 1948, Virginia’s family moved to Marion, Indiana, where she attended St. Paul’s Grade School, then St. Joseph’s Academy in Tipton, Indiana, followed by Indiana Business College in Marion, Indiana, and Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She lived briefly in Washington, D.C., where she worked in a Congressional Office before returning to Chicago, Illinois, and to Marion, Indiana where she worked in a number of office and administrative positions. She also lived briefly in Mexico, but returned to be near her family.
She was a gifted pianist and organist with a beautiful voice.
