Virginia (Lockwood) O’Connor of Willingboro, NJ and Long Beach Island, 89 years old, died peacefully in her sleep on January 23, 2016.
Loving wife of the late William J. O’Connor she is survived by her sister Ruth Strong, four children: Kevin J. O’Connor, Kathleen M. (O’Connor) Hansen (Peter), Daniel L. O’Connor (Barbara), William J. O’Connor (Marcos), as well as six grandchildren: Maureen, MaryBeth, Jimmy, Lisa, Jessie and Jon, eight great grandchildren and many cousins and extended family.
Virginia was born in Queens, NY and resided in Richmond Hill, NY through her young adulthood. She attended Southern Seminary Jr. College in Virginia. After living in Baldwin, Long Island, NY, the family moved to Willingboro, NJ in 1961, where Virginia was involved in numerous activities including Girl Scouts, sewing, painting, gardening and bridge among others.
Virginia was a Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder for over 40 years and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for over 25 years, starting as a part time employee and rising to Branch Manager. The family would like to recognize and thank Virginia’s caregivers: Gail, Barb, Kathy, Alyssa, Sue, Millie and Jakeita for providing loving care and attention.
