Virginia M. Virgil, 83, formerly of MacArthur Avenue in South Bend, Indiana died Saturday, October 8, 2005, in Countryside Place, Mishawaka, Indiana after an extended illness. Mrs. Virgil had suffered a stroke in March of 1997 and suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease. Virginia was born on January 10, 1922, to Stanley and Bertha (Jankowiak) Rozewicz in South Bend and was a lifelong resident in this area. Stanley Rozewicz her brother and Phyllis Jedd, her sister as well as her parents had all preceded her in death.

Earlier in her life, Virginia had worked as a church secretary, as a secretary at the Studebaker Corporation and as a dental assistant for Dr. Mary Turgi in South Bend.

As Virginia Rozewicz, she married Paul A. Virgil on May 8, 1954, at St. Stanislaus Church in South Bend. Paul preceded her in death on February 15, 1995. Virginia devoted much of her life to being a homemaker for her family. She loved to cook, and her cooking was enjoyed by her family and friends. Reading and letter writing were her favorite hobbies.

Survivors include two sons, James F. (Ruth) of Mishawaka, Indiana and Thomas M. of Elkhart, Indiana; a granddaughter Rachel of Mishawaka, Indiana; six nieces; five nephews; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Rozewicz of Oregon; and a brother-in-law, Casimir Jedd of South Bend, Indiana.

The family would like to thank everyone from Countryside Place Nursing Home and The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care for taking such wonderful care of Virginia.
