Virginia “Jenny” Lee (Dempsay) Bruns, 82 of Catawissa, Missouri formerly of Centralia, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at her home. Jenny was born April 1, 1932 in Pinckneyville, daughter of Golda “Bud” Dempsay and Ruth (Todd) Dempsay. She married Arthur Bruns and he preceded her in her death.
She is survived by a son, Mark Bruns of Sesser,Il, a daughter Linda Busam and husband (Rich) Catawissa, Mo. Four grandchildren, Michael Shehorn, Christopher Pflug, Jedidiah Bruns, and Jessica Busam. One great grandchild, Astaysia Busam. Three brothers, Louis Dean Dempsay and wife Joan. Bill Dempsay and wife Patty, and Jack Dempsay and wife Joanie. Two sisters Goldie Rizzo and husband Charlie and Judy Bigham and husband Steve. Numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by family, friends and the community. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Jenny was a lifelong resident of Centralia and proprietor of “Jenny’s Tax Service” for many, many years. Her tax customers were not just customers they were family to Jenny.Jenny had a positive effect on everyone she came in contact with, she had such a mischievous, ongoing smile, contagious giggle with her flashing blue eyes and little girl dimples made everyone completely at ease. She always had a kind word and compassionate shoulder for everyone that entered her home. She loved her family and friends and was beloved by everyone that knew her. She enjoyed family gatherings, country music, picking strawberries and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Heaven received a great jewel when the Lord called her home.
