Virginia Jean Almeida Valdez
Our sweet “Ginny” passed away at home surrounded by her family on August 22, 2016 after battling bravely for so many years. She was born on December 6, 1952 to loving parents who were married for 50 years, Richard and Verla Almeida, at St. Benedicts Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She has 3 younger brothers, Richard Jr., Robert and Roger Almeida, as well as 3 sisters who passed as infants.
Early on she became very strong willed and independent. With two working parents, she helped raise her brothers until the day she became a mother herself. Her new purpose and love of her life became her one and only son, David Valdez. She always worked hard to be a good provider and raised him as a single mother with help from her parents. When David’s kids, Isaiah, Kyrianna and Kadence were born, her life took on a whole new meaning. She was a great grandmother who loved and adored them and made sure they always had what they needed.
She worked for the police station for many years. Before working for Ogden City, she worked at the Water Department and then Municipal Building for 30 years before retiring.
She loved to collect Beanie Babies, Jim Shore Collectables and Harry Potter everything! She always threw the best Halloween parties. She was someone we could always depend on and brought the family together.
Although we will miss her, we know she was greeted by so many faces she’s missed for so long.
