Virginia “Tiny” (Mathus) Brookman 82, of Centralia passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan in Centralia. She was born on February 8, 1929, in Centralia the daughter of Henry and Maude (Smith) Mathus.
She married Stanley Brookman on August 16, 1947, in Opdyke and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2000.
She is survived by three sons: Terry Brookman and wife Sandy of Troy, Gary Brookman and wife Lana of Ina, and Steve Brookman and fiancé Michele of Centralia; a daughter: Cheryl Blackman and husband Chuck of Centralia; 8 grandchildren: Brandy Baileyof Troy, Ben Brookman and wife Emily of Macomb, Lindsey Leyes of Maryland Heights, Mo., Amanda Simpson and husband Bob of Centralia, Christopher Brookman and fiancé Kelly of Evansville, IN, Nicholas Brookman of Centralia, Contessa Lenzini and friend Steve and Madison Blackman, Eric Brookman and wife Lauren of Forrest City, Ar.; 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Charles (V’Dell) Mathus and Ray Mathus; a sister, Velma Hodges. Virginia was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan.
She was a member of Calumet Christian Church in Centralia and was also a member of the Senior Saints at the church. Most of all Virginia loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
