Virginia Clare Forrester

Virginia Clare (Brooks) Forrester, age 94, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012. She was the widow of Dr. Joseph C. Forrester. Our beloved Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother (Mimaw), Great Grandmother (Gigi) and Aunt will be greatly missed. Virginia was born October 27, 1917 to Furman M. and Leola Smith Brooks. She was a graduate of Nelsonville High School and Ohio University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. While working as a medical technologist at Mt. Carmel Hospital, she met her future husband, Joe. They married and spent 5 years in San Antonio, TX during World War II. They returned to Columbus where they raised their 6 children. Following her husband’s untimely death, Virginia returned to her career as a medical technologist at Davidson Laboratory/Clinical Pathology. After retiring in 1998, she continued to enjoy her world travels and family beach vacations. Virginia was a member of Christ the King and St. Catharine Parishes and the Elizabethan Guild. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brother John (Gloria) Brooks. Virginia is survived by children, Michael (Linda) Forrester, Joanne (Paul) Swentzel, Mary Ellen “Molly” (Michael Greene) Forrester, Kathleen (Michael) Baker, Stephanie (Larry) Lamp, Patrick (Mary Kay) Forrester; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Forrester. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Jon Forrester, Suzanne Forrester, Brooks (Samantha) Swentzel, Laura Swentzel (Jon) Hellstedt, Ian Greene, Kevin Greene, Patrick Baker, Martin (Stephanie) Lamp, David Lamp, Lauren Lamp, and Shannon Marie Nothing; and 12 great-grandchildren, Joseph C. Forrester II, Brock (Ana), Jayce, Austen and James Swentzel, Nathan, Drew and Emily Hellstedt, Andrew and Mitchell Lamp and Akaash and Keya Nothing.
