Virginia Wiles Knox, 89 of Newnan passed away October 31, 2010 at Wesley Woods of Newnan. She was born in Coweta County to the late Nelle Walker Wiles. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Earl Knox, Sr.; brothers, Raiford Wiles and Fred Wiles, and sister Margaret Burnette and grandson, Gilliam Cheatham. Mrs. Knox was owner of the Knox Furniture Company in Newnan and was a founding member of Unity Baptist Church. She ran the nursery at the church for many years and touched the lives of many children in her care. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a second mom to many of her children’s friends. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Mrs. Knox is survived by her children, Roy (Margaret) Knox, Jr., Mark (Danette) Knox, Jan Deyton, and Jill Knox (Rick Smith). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Knox (Steve) St. Laurent, Tanner Knox, Sara Knox, Paul (Melanie) Deyton , Carly Deyton, Matthew Knox Smith, Eleanor (Brittain) Lawson, and Laura (J. R.) Barnhart; great-grandchildren, Ellen and Luke St. Laurent, and Cheney Lawson and many nieces and nephews.
