Virginia Bickel, 95, of Jacksonville, IL died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at Lavender Ridge in Jacksonville.
She was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Summersville, KY, the daughter of William T. and Ediuth Price. She married Glenn A. Bickel on Jan. 26, 1995, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2019.
She is survived by one son, Jerry K. (Debra) Beams of Chapin; two daughters, Diane (Larry) Griffin and Connie (George) Reavy, both of The Villages, FL; one stepson, Dennis J. (Rosemary) Bickel of St. Peters, MO; three stepdaughters, Nona (Greg) Neff of Jacksonville, Glenda (Mike) Long of Rochester, and Annette (Roger) Willis of Woodstock; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Bale of Glasgow, KY.
Mrs. Bickel was a graduate of Greensburg (KY) High School and then attended Campbellsville College in Kentucky. She worked for Central National Life, which later became John Deere Life, for nineteen years. She was a founding member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and was currently a member of Westfair Baptist Church. Virginia dedicated her life to helping others and had a strong faith in God. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
