Virginia A. Piercy, 75 of Centralia, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.She was born May 30, 1941 in Centralia, daughter of Cyril Stephens and Mildred (Champ) Stephens. She married Charles Piercy on July 8, 1961 in Centralia and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1991.

Virginia is survived by a son, Greg Piercy and wife Gaye of Texico; a daughter, Paula Ross and husband Rob of Foristell, Missouri; five grandchildren: Matthew Piercy and wife Lindsay of Mt. Vernon, Ashley Hoffman and husband Doug of Mt. Vernon, Robbi Ross of Foristell, Missouri, Dan Lopez and wife Tena of Holland, Indiana, and Dana Marlow and husband Jeff of Evansville, Indiana; six great-grandchildren: Jackson Piercy and Loralye Piercy both of Mt. Vernon, Andrew Hoffman of Mt. Vernon, Olivia Lopez of Holland, Indiana, and Evan Marlow, Graham Marlow, and Liam Marlow all of Evansville, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.Virginia graduated from Centralia Township High School and she graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with her Bachelors of Education. She taught at Richview Grade School for three years, Bronson for two years, and for thirty-three years she taught and retired from Central City Grade School. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Centralia. Virginia was an avid reader and avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR and collecting Dinosaur trinkets. Virginia’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
