Virgil O. Enockson, 85 of West Bend died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the West Bend Care Center. Virgil O. Enockson, the son of Hans and Regina (Gartner) Enockson was born June 3, 1927 in Ottosen, IA where he was raised and received his education. During his senior year in high school he was drafted into the Army Air Corps and served during WWII from 1945 to January of 1947. He completed his basic training in Mississippi, was then stationed in Okinawa, and served with the military police. After returning home he finished his senior year of high school and graduated from the Ottosen High School in 1947. On Novemer 5, 1950 he was united in marriage to Pearl Thorson at the First Lutheran Church in Humboldt, IA. Virgil and Pearl lived in Humboldt for a few years and eventually established their home in West Bend. Virgil worked for West Bend Auto for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. Survivors include his wife Pearl in West Bend, IA, daughter Meredith (James) Weinman of Indianola, IA, grandchildren Angela Weiman (Curt) Braden of Fort Worth Tx, and Andrew Weinman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, great grandchildren, Madeline Michelle and Macey Maxine, and sister in law Kathryn Enockson of New York state. Virgil was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder, and was an over sixty year member of the West Bend American Legion Post. He served on the Wests Bend City Council for a number of years and the West Bend Fire Department for 30 years where he was serving as chief when he retired. Preceding Virgil in death were his parents, and siblings Mildred Kleppe, Helen Ludwig, Stanley Enockson, Russell Enockson and Farrell Enockson.
