Salem Virgil D. Herrod, Jr., 67, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at his residence in North View, Clarksburg. He was born March 3, 1944 in Salem, the son of the late Virgil D. Herrod , Sr. and Cleola Baker Herrod. He was married July 19, 1999 to Brenda “Suzi” Crumit Herrod who survives. Mr. Herrod graduated from Doddridge County High School in 1962 and attended technical school in Chicago to become a meat-cutter, a trade that he worked at for 42 years, and was employed in Fairmont for several years, then worked and retired from Foodland in Bridgeport. He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Adriana K. Herrod. And their children are Michael Herrod and wife Carrie, Frederick Herrod all of Clarksburg, and Robyn Lavey in Michigan. Step-children are Kedron (Jasper Alfred of Buckhannon, Karla Dewey and companion Richard Gum of Weston, Krista Turner at home, and Kendall Dewey of Maryland. Also surviving is a brother, Robert “Butch” Herrod of Clarksburg, two sisters, Cloyetta (Allen) Moore of Powell, OH and Anna (Donnie) Woodruff of Martinsburg, WV. ; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nellie Jones, and his brother, Ernie Herrod. Virgil was Protestant by faith. He was an avid NASCAR fan especially #3 and #88. He will also be missed by his beloved golden retriever, K.C.
