Violet Marie Britner, 90, of Rowlesburg died Friday, April 8, 2016 at Pine Ridge in Kingwood.
She was born March 31, 1926, in Rowlesburg, a daughter of the late Harvey and Effie Shaffer Rogers.
Mrs. Britner was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of the Catholic Churches in Preston County, Eucharistic Minister at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Rowlesburg, a co-owner along with her husband of Rowlesburg Home Appliance, an avid quilter and bingo player, a founding member of the Rowlesburg Historical Society, 4-H and Girl Scout leader and a past treasurer of the LANDBOC Land Owners Association.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Mike and Debbie Britner of Greenville, NC, Steve and Vanessa Britner of Apex, NC and Phil and Anita Britner of Aurora; two daughters and their spouses, Terri and Gary Reedy of Rowlesburg and Jeanne and Mike Hall of Seabrook, NH; her brother, Wes Rogers of Huntsville, AL; her sister, Orpha Loughry of Rowlesburg; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and best friend, Ruth Titchnell..
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. Britner in 2007 and four brothers and sisters, Lee, Elmer, Lou and Tina.
