Viola Marie Pickel, 87, of Clovis, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Viola was born January, 20, 1927 in Texico, N.M. to Pauline Vaughn and Jessie Brown. Viola married F.C Pete Pickel on November 6, 1942 in Ft. Sumner, N.M. shortly before Pete began serving in England during WWII. She graduated from Whitebead, Oklahoma high school in 1945. Pete and Viola moved back to Clovis in 1958. Viola worked as a short order cook for many years at the Snazzy Pig. She began working at W.D. Gattis junior high as a cafeteria worker. She was promoted to cafeteria Manager and worked in that capacity until her retirement. Viola was a member of Parkland Baptist church and truly enjoyed her Tuesday Morning Bible Studies and ladies Sunday School class.
Pete, her husband of 67 years, preceded her in death in 2010. Viola is survived by two sons, Charles Sue Pickel of Davis, Oklahoma and Lonnie Alexa Pickel of Clovis one daughter, Donna Jess Davis of Columbus, Ohio one brother, Marvin Possum Patty Brown of Altus, Oklahoma and three sisters, Ethyl Mae Price, Ignacio Colorado, Thelma Charlie McCarty of Reserve, N.M. Helen Carroll Pate of Post, Texas and one sisterinlaw, Vera Mae McCarty of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and six grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren.
