Vincent Joseph LaMonica, 93 of Elkton, MD, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Waterbury, CT, on May 15, 1919, he was the son of the late Antonio and the late Concetta (Ricupero) LaMonica.  Mr. LaMonica was the beloved husband of Sidonia M. LaMonica of Elkton, MD.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945.  He graduated from Indiana State University with his B.S., then from Columbia University with a M.S. in Industrial Arts.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. LaMonica worked at Edgewood Arsenal and was a Realtor for LaMonica Real Estate.

He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Elkton, MD where he served as Head Usher; the American Legion; and the Knights of Columbus – PGK, FDD and PFN.

He loved gardening, birds, carpentry and trees.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his 3 children: Anthony V. LaMonica of North East, MD, Concetta Rose LaMonica Groves of Martinsburg, WV and her husband Mike Groves and John S. LaMonica of Marshall, VA and his wife Clelia M. LaMonica; 2 grandchildren: Capt. John McGowan LaMonica, USAF of Minot, ND and Clelia Rose LaMonica Pierce of Stockholm, Sweden and her husband Michael Pierce; 2 great grandchildren; and 1 sister: Loretta Stigliano of Elkton, MD.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late sister: Josephine Ward and late aunt: Rose Rita Ricupero.
