Vincent J. Hilaire, 85, of Bethlehem, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg in Bethlehem. He was the husband of Rose Dolores (Duhig) Hilaire for 53 years. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Emile and Jane (Connell) Hilaire. Vincent worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a Civil Engineer for 23 years until retiring in 1983. Later he worked as a Surveyor. He served in the Pacific Theater in WWII for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a 1948 graduate of Lehigh University, where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church in Bethlehem. He was a member of Fountain Hill American Legion Post #406 and the VFW in Allentown. Survivors: his wife Rose Dolores at home; sons Vincent E. and his wife Song Suk of Longmont, Colo., Lawrence J. of Greeley, Pa. Louis B. and his wife Lisa of New Orleans, La., Stephen J. and his wife Maureen of Fountain Hill; daughters Maria Smith and her husband Jonathan of Allentown, Rebecca Temple and her husband Barry of Fountain Hill; sisters Jane Coleman of Las Vegas, Nev., Lucille Pleiss of Lower Saucon Twp., Anne Tallarico of Bethlehem, Rita Downey of Hellertown, Catherine Thompson of Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren. Will and Carol Rufe, Sophie, Nicole and Philip Hilaire, Kegan, Elizabeth and Patrick Hilaire, Benjamin Youngerman and Michael Smith, Barry and Louis Temple and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Phillip and sister Marie Holland.
