Victor D. Swank, 88, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2007, in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend.

Victor was born on May 12, 1918, in Galien, MI, to the late Clyde and Bertha (Sprague) Swank. On July 11, 1942, he married Eileen Flick, who preceded him in death on December 27, 1996.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Alan Swank; two brothers, Dean and Maurice “Scotty” Swank; and by a step-sister, Gladys Enders.

He is survived by his daughters, Vicki (Ed) George of Versailles, OH and Gayle (Chris) Egan of South Bend; his son, Kim (Heather) Swank of Thorton, CO; by seven grandchildren, Ted George, Alan “Butch” Swank, Jr., James (Julia) Swank, Kristin, Kara and Katie Egan; and Travis Swank; and by six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Swank was a self employed Certified Dental Technician. He owned and operated Swank Dental Lab in Michigan City, IN.
Victor was a 1936 graduate of Galien High School. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion in Galien, and the New Buffalo Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and loved hunting white tailed deer and elk. Victor was also a muzzleloader gunsmith and made a lot of the guns, handcarving the stocks himself.
