Vicki J. Shaw, 65, of Bluffs, died Sunday, February 19, 2017, at her residence.
She was born September 28, 1951, in Jacksonville, the daughter of James A. and Wanda M. Magelitz Hendricks. She married Anthony “Tony” Battefeld on December 31, 1969, in Rushville, and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1972. She later married Richard “Rick” Shaw on June 26, 1991, in Liberty, and he survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Laura (Doug) Mueller of Meredosia; granddaughter, Emily Mueller of Meredosia; two sisters, Sharon Evans of Bluffs, and Sandra (Jim) Battefeld of Meredosia; and her step-mother, Margaret Hendricks of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Vicki was a 1969 graduate of Bluffs High School. She was a mail carrier in the Murrayville area, retiring in 2014 after 20 years of service. She was a former member of Naples United Methodist Church and currently attended Oxville United Methodist Church. Many people were touched by the handwritten cards of encouragement she sent them.
