Vesta Francine Boone, age 75 of Montgomery, Alabama passed on February 21, 2018. Vesta was born on August 23, 1942 in Beverly, NJ. Known to us as “Mosa”, she preferred to be called this name because of her fondness for the Mimosa tree. She attended Willingboro High School. She believed in the value of education and was awarded a Bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University with a major in Speech Pathology and a minor in French. She went on to serve in the Women’s Army Corp as a switchboard operator and head librarian during the Vietnam-war era and was stationed at Ft. Richie, Ft. Gordon, and Ft. Knox. Among several of her life professions were that of teacher, social worker, radio program host at Oakwood College, and a medical record office manager. But her most cherished position was that of Evangelist. She was best known for her relationships with people and her great desire to reach out to at-risk individuals. Her life’s work was helping people in need, praying fervently for strangers she met, giving her last dime to the hungry, and taking in the destitute and giving them a place to stay. She started the Patterson Learning Center to increase reading skills in at-risk youth and she was able to operate the facility for 10 years in Montgomery, Alabama. She was predeceased by her beloved father Dwight Boone; mother Fannie Cobb Boone. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her only child: daughter Thelma Randelle Long; her grandchildren: Briana Rae Hubbard (Darryl Aaron Hubbard II) and Paris Ayana Long; and a host of nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
