Vernon Perry “Butch” Brawdy, was born on June 7, 1946, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Harley Perry and Verna Lois (Wheeler) Brawdy and passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
He grew up in the Bridgewater-Fontanelle area, attending school in Atlantic. On July 2, 1970, he was united in marriage to Vicki Lynn Toepfer in Atlantic, Iowa. The family then made their home in Atlantic, later moving to Griswold.
Vern worked as a Culligan Man prior to beginning employment at Gould, Inc. in Atlantic in 1979. He continued working as a maintenance supervisor for the company for the past 30 years as the plant changed from Gould, Inc to Imperial Clevite, Inc. to Glacier Vandervell to Glacier Daido America, LLC to Dana Atlantic, LLC and finally to Mahle. He retired in July of 2009, due to his health.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and pets. Vern cherished the time spend with them, especially his grandchildren. He had many hobbies and collections of everything including; lamps, clocks, tools, and stories, which he was happy to share over a red beer.
