Vernon Lee “Bud” Shugars, 70, of Shinnston, passed away Saturday January 24, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Vernon was born October 12, 1938 in Barbour County West Virginia, a son of the late Ervin Shugars, and Madelyn Willis Shugars Fitzwater. Vernon is survived by his wife Charlotte V. Lathea Shugars of whom he married in June of 1976. Also surviving are one daughter Kristie Borgheiinck and husband Andrew of Clarksburg; one son Freddie Lee Shugars of Clarksburg; 3 grandchildren Dustin, Zachery and Megan Borgheiinck; One brother William “Neil” Fitzwater of Clarksburg; four sisters Georgia “Poochie” Montgomery of Brownton, WV, Ruby Knight Powell of Rosemont, Pamela King of Clarksburg, and Patricia Fitzwater of Clarksburg one half brother Gary Fitzwater and several nieces and nephews. Vernon was preceded in death by his stepfather Neil Fitzwater Jr.; brothers Thomas Shugars, and Timothy Fitzwater. Vernon worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Clarksburg and was a veteran of the United States military.
