He was born June 4, 1940 in Muncie, Indiana, and resided in Anderson most of his life. Vernon served his country in the US Navy. He retired from Delphi. Vernon enjoyed boating, fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alberta Rutherford Thompson; daughters, Christa Lynn Thompson and April Marie Randall Hamilton; sister, Eunice Thompson of Warsaw; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mae Lindsay, Florence Lacey, Harry Thompson, Norval Thompson Jr., Delmar Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, Marvin Thompson and Jack Thompson and parents, Dortha Stidd and Norval Thompson, Sr.
