Vernice (Tom) Arnett, Medaryville, IN, 75 went home to be with the Lord, Friday, June 2, 2017 at IU Arnett Health, Lafayette, Indiana. He was born January 17th, 1942 in Salyersville, KY to the late Barksdale Arnett and Wava (nee Banks) Davis. On May 18th, 1968, in Rensselaer, IN he married the love of his life Freeda Manns, they have been married 49 years.
Mr. Arnett was a founding and lifetime member of Teaberry Hill Estates Church, Medaryville, IN and served as Deacon from 1974. Tom was saved and baptized on December 1st, 1968 and was a strong, faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He attended Gillam Grade School and Wheatfield High School. He loved to work outdoors and gardening was his passion, he was faithful and loyal to the works of his church.
Tom was retired from Kaiser Aluminum at Wanatah, IN where he was a machine operator. Aluminum, Brick and Glass Workers International Union – Life Membership. He is survived by his wife, Freeda; his mother, Wava Davis; one special granddaughter by Love: Samantha Conley (Travis) Clary of North Judson, IN; three special great-grandchildren: Emma Rhian Shepperd; Mayleigh Anne Shepperd; and Jensen Reid Clary all of North Judson, IN. Four sisters: Madge (Bob) Gutwein, and Helen (Allyn) Onken of Francesville, IN, Ollidean (Larry) Holderby and Patricia Banks of Salyersville, KY; and six brothers; Marvin (Lola) Arnett of Wheatfield, IN, Floyd (Lola) Arnett, Roy (Betty) Arnett, Jack Arnett, Jimmy (Brenda) Arnett all of Salyersville, KY and Paul Galen (Cheri) Arnett of Ashland, KY.
He was preceded in death by his father Barksdale Arnett, step-mother Rosie Arnett, step-father Kile Davis and sister, Elsie Ritchie.
