Vernard Wallace “Mac” McClanahan III, Age 69, of Unionville, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019, after a six month battle of complications from a Brain Bleed (Stroke).

Vernard was born August 18, 1949, in Lexington, Kentucky to Vernard McClanahan II and Nora (Pigg) McClanahan. He served in the US Army as a Military Police officer in the Vietnam War following graduating High School and completing two and a half years at Indiana University.

Mac worked as a restaurant manager, construction worker, and in Car/Boat Sales for a number of years. He enjoyed Hunting (Rabbit, Deer, and, Mushroom), maintained a produce garden while selling produce from the road, avid Indiana University basketball fan. His favorite thing to do was to bass fish (semi competitively for a while) and when the weather would not corporate, he would spend time in his garage, smoking, drinking coffee and playing with his Beagle dogs.

Vernard is survived by his wife of 45 years,Kim McClanahan, his sons Daniel, Matthew, and Terry McClanahan and one daughter, Krystal Harding, mother, Nora McClanahan, daughters-in-law, Carrie and Heather, son-in-law, John, brother, Mark McClanahan and sister, Alice McClanahan. Vernard leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Eugina, Clayton, Sean, Alivia, Alexis, Mackenzie, Coleton, Cody, Jillian, and Camden, six sisters-in-law, Pam, Monty, Linda, Suzanne, Anita, Vicky, four brothers-in-law, Rick, Larry, Scott, John, over 20 nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

Vernard is preceded in death by his father, Vernard McClanahan II, his mother-in-law,Pauline Fleener, his father-in-law Leonard Fleener.
