Vern Darrel Bond
Vern Darrel Bond, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 9, 1929 to Percy and Matilda Hayes Bond. He graduated from Ogden High School. He met his sweetheart, Phyllis Bullock, and married her on May 22, 1948. They were blessed with 6 children and married for 65 years until Phyllis’ passing in 2013.
Vern retired from Hill Air Force Base after 35 years, then worked for another 10 years for Crown Laundry, and always had a second job painting homes with his good friend, Chambers. He enjoyed family activities, fishing, camping, roller skating, and loved to dance. He and his wife enjoyed their membership with the Eagles. Most of all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his children; Sheryl Stewart (Doug – deceased), Lauri (Sean) Morgan, Glen Bond, Tracie Bond, and Rhea (Wayne – deceased) Bond; his brother, Steven (MaryLynn) Bond, and his sister, Janet (Wayne – deceased) Hansen, sisters-in-law; Nathel (Laurel – deceased) Hill and Myrna (Wayne – deceased) Hoskins; 23 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, Wayne and Bobby, his stepfather, Louis Reed, his brother, Dean, and his sister, Joyce Turner.
