Verla Lucille (Cobbs) Santee, age 97, a women of great faith and prayer, passed away at 12:53 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at her home to be with the Lord. She was born April 4, 1916 in Damascus, the daughter of the late Irven and Ada (Crosley) Cobbs. A lifelong member of the Damascus Friends Church, she was the Sunday School Superintendent of the Children’s Department for many years. She possessed the gift of hospitality. Her husband, Ralph Wendell Santee, whom she married June 2, 1944, preceded her in death August 26, 2009. She was also preceded by a son, Duane Santee; a sister, Lois June Cobbs; and two brothers, Virgil, and Kenneth Cobbs. Survivors include a son, Jim (Teresa) Santee of Salem; three daughters, Joyce (Michael) Stiffler of Beloit, Jane (Don) Hardy of Beloit, and Nancy (Tom) Jones of Salem; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
