Vera Martinez, age 89, passed away June 22, 2017 in Flagstaff, AZ. She was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on July 12, 1927 to Jose Sedillo and Anita (Montoya) Sedillo.

Vera is survived by her husband and love of her life, Maclovio (Mack) Martinez, of Flagstaff, AZ, to whom she married in January of 1954. The two had lived married together in Flagstaff for the past 63 years, started and ran family businesses and raised seven children.

Vera is also survived by her children: Steve (Carol) Martinez, of Flagstaff, AZ; Larry (Sandy) Martinez, of Wellston, Michigan; Annette (Edward) Wolff, of Gilbert, AZ; Ernest (Aurelia) Martinez, of Flagstaff, AZ, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters:Rose (Fernando) Sedillo, Nellie (Tony) Nunez, and Jennie (Frank) Greening, and her brother John (Cecilia) Sedillo.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Thomas M. Martinez, Henry R. Martinez, and Robert P. Martinez, as well as, her parents Jose and Anita Sedillo, and siblings Manuel Sedillo, Freddie Sedillo, Joe Sedillo, and Lloyd (Romie) Sedillo, Lucy (Remijo) Armijo.

Vera worked at the Bellemont Navajo Ordnance Depot during WWII as a munitions clerk, Babbitt’s Dept. stores, and the Flagstaff Public schools for many years. But, most of all, she loved and did her best at making a beautiful home, being a great cook, and putting all her effort into raising her big family with her husband Mack Martinez.

Vera loved Flagstaff. It was a great place to spend time with her family outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, or just going for a ride in the back country. She also enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Her family and friends will always remember her as a very gentle, loving person, soft spoken, cheerful and forgiving. She will be forever loved and forever missed.

The family would like to thank everyone for the out pour of prayers, well wishes, condolences, and help in getting through this most difficult time. And also, a very special thanks of gratitude to the staff of Rose Arbor House for making her final days comfortable, and to Vista Hospice for all the care and support they provided to Vera and her family.
