Vera Lee Evans Land, 77, quietly passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, while a resident of Riverside Health Care Center, Danville. Formerly of 317 Pelham Loop Road, Pelham, NC, Mrs. Land was born January 23, 1934 in Danville. She was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Evans and the late George Dewey Evans. She was predeceased by her husband, James William Land. . Vera was a member of Lively Stones Baptist Church, and was a homemaker most of her life. She is survived by two daughters: Sandra Rigney of Roanoke, VA and Joan Adkins of Danville; one sister: Nancy Layne of Pelham, NC; three brothers: Rev. Hubert Evans of Pelham, NC, Lloyd Evans of Providence, NC and Carl Evans of Whitsville, NC. Vera is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sisters: Edna Trammell, Patsy Booth and Gladys Adkins, and three brothers: Nathan Evans, Edward Evans and Kenneth Evans.
