Velva L. “Babe” Johnson, the daughter of John B. and Ivo B. (McDonald) Wearmouth, was born February 26, 1911 in Mitchellville, Iowa. She attended Mitchellville schools.
“Babe” was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy; three brothers, Vernon, Virgil, and Orvin Wearmouth and her sister, Wilma Harper. Those left to honor her memory are her adopted son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Rose Butler; her three grandchildren, Sarah Richardson and her husband, Dennis of Newton; Jenifer Butler of Grinnell, Iowa; John Butler and his wife, Michelle of Des Moines, Iowa; her seven grandchildren, Larry and Rachel Richardson of Newton; Presten Conner of Newton; Ben and Nyckolle Butler, Zak Brennecke and Piper Lieberman all of Des Moines; her two sisters and brother-in-law, Inez Rojohn and Midlred and Archie Rawlins all of Newton and her many nieces and nephews.
