Velma Victoria McCammon Noel, 94, died Aug. 10, 2007, at Winslow Camps of Care in Winslow. She was born on Jan. 7, 1913, in Delta, Delta County, Colo., to Oka Iola Graham McCammon and Frank Ebenezer McCammon.

She moved to Rocky Ford, Colo., in 1919, with her parents and her younger sister, Dorothy Pirtle Mc Cammon. She attended Rocky Ford Schools and graduated from Cosmetology College in Denver. Her family often referred to her as the Mother to All, The Peace-Maker, or the Mediator. She was also her family’s Santa Claus.

Mrs. Noel was a born-again Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Winslow for many years.

She married Chester Paul Noel of Colorado. The couple lived in Hasty, Colo., for a few years, before moving to Winslow in 1943, where Mr. Noel began his career with Santa Fe Railroad. Mrs. Noel also started her long-term career in 1943 and was a very devoted employee at Central Drugstore in Winslow for more than 30 years. She enjoyed her membership in the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Winslow for many years.

Mr. and Mrs. Noel enjoyed many years together and spending time with their family at their home and in their cabin south of Winslow.

Mrs. Noel is survived by one grandson; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; four great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Paul Graham Mc Cammon, of Rocky Ford, Colo.; four nieces; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death in July 2000 by her husband of more than 60 years, Paul Noel; her son, Billy Lloyd Noel; one granddaughter; and her step-daughter Bettie Jean-Noel.
