Velma Luce Pashby, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2014. Velma was born June 7, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan the daughter of Harvey and Martha Hamilton Hitchcock. She was a longtime Kalamazoo area resident and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved cooking and was especially known for her sweet rolls. For several years she enjoyed working at Mister Donut in Kalamazoo. Velma loved her Lord and always had a true servant’s heart in all she did.

The most important part of her life was her family. On November 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to Edgar S. Pashby, who preceded her in death on October 26, 1997. Surviving are her four children, Roger Glenna Pashby of Hastings, Carol Brown of Bolingbrook, IL, Dennis Marilyn Pashby of Beaverton, OR, and Susan James Collison of Otsego; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; a brother and a son-in-law, Thomas Brown.
