Valice Marlene Laramee, 85, of Ogden, UT, died November 9, 2016 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Laramee was a successful teacher in the suburbs of Illinois, Ohio, and Utah. Born October 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Beulah Ruth and Claude Schnarr of St. Louis, MO, and sister to the late Vera Jean Blomquist of Chicago, IL. Mrs. Laramee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL; a Master of Arts in Music from the University of Colorado, in Boulder; and a second Masters of Arts degree in English from Weber University in Ogden, UT, where she also was active on stage, playing the lead role in the opera Carmen. She taught music to small children in Caracas, Venezuela, where she was active in local theater, and was in residence at the Chautauqua Institution in southwestern NY where she sang opera, and later met and married Richard Clay Laramee.
Mrs. Laramee was President of the League of Women Voters in Ogden, Utah, on the board of the Utah Opera, and was instrumental in bringing opera into the Ogden school district. She held the position of deacon, a soloist in the choir, and member of the bell choir at the First Presbyterian Church of Ogden. Mrs. Laramee traveled extensively, with a special interest in archaeology, visiting six of the seven continents before her illness took over. A special thanks to the staff of Silverado Assisted Living in Salt Lake City for taking care of her during the last years of her life.

Mrs. Laramee is survived by her two children, son Brian Laramee of Portland OR and daughter Elaine Laramee, son-in-law Rob Harrigan, and two grandchildren, Jack Harrigan and Rory Harrigan of Maplewood, NJ, as well as Richard Laramee and nephew Bill Blomquist Jr. of Chicago, IL.
