Valerie Ellen Stifel Erickson, 68, passed away December 29, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Val was born to Robert and Josephine Erickson on October 5, 1953. She graduated from Urbandale High School in 1971. In 1982, Val Married Steve Eugene Stifel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Val worked as the Corporate File Manager at Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. where she was employed for 48 years. She was devoted to her work and made many lifelong friends at V&K.
Val was extremely talented and creative. She enjoyed making many kinds of artwork, but paper was her favorite medium. She also enjoyed spending time with family, especially her granddaughters who were the light of her life. Val spent her life serving others and caring for those around her, she was always willing to help create
Valerie is survived by her two children, Eric Stifel and Leah Stifel; two adoring granddaughters Alaina, (11) and Brielle (6); as well as her sisters, Sue (Dave) Ruffert, Lissa (Bruce) Dickson, Brenda Lucas, Mary Lynn (Tom) Gray and Emily (Jeff) Winders; her brother, Robert (Penny) Erickson; her aunt, Violet Schamberger, and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbra Jane; brother-in-law, Mike Lucas; her parents, Robert and Josephine Erickson, and her husband, Steven Stifel, who passed away unexpectedly, just six days prior on December 23, 2021.
