Travis Austin Hiatt
November 10, 1997 ~ February 13, 2016

Our remarkable son, brother, grandson and friend was welcomed home by our Father in Heaven on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 10:09 a.m. at Davis Hospital and Medical Center in Layton, Utah. His inspiration and love for life upon this earth ended way too soon due to an infected abscess in his throat resulting in respiratory distress.
Travis was born November 10, 1997 in Kansas City, Kansas and is survived by his parents, Jim and Dawn Hiatt, his younger brother, Eric, grandparents, Ray and Gaye Hengel, Dick Shelton and Regina Shelton. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Doris Hiatt.
He was a proud and dedicated senior at Northridge High School maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. He was actively involved as the boys’ basketball manager, U Knight Leader and DECA member. He loved Northridge High School and Northridge loved him. He was also a member of the Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Community on Hill AFB, Utah.
Travis had many health challenges in life, but was always upbeat, influential and had a positive impact on those around him. He was outgoing and a fighter for life’s passion that always brought a smile to those he encountered.
He was a sports-fanatic and a huge fan of the Kanas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Michigan State Spartans, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Cleveland Cavaliers. He enjoyed reading, sports talk radio, gaming and fantasy football.
Travis will always be remembered for his bright smile, unselfishness, encouragement, determination, kindness to all and his outgoing, contagious and uplifting spirit. He was a very engaging person, loved everyone and was a friend to all. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. Travis had a brilliant future ahead and was accepted to attend the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business, Business Scholars’ Program, majoring in Marketing in the Fall of 2016.
