Tony Pavano of Plainville, 91, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family.  Tony was the son of the late Matteo and Concetta (Amenta) Pavano.  He served in the US Army in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery.  He was the general manager for Dworin Chevrolet in East Hartford for many years.  Tony also did the radio commercials for Dworin Chevrolet impersonating Jimmy Durante, and therefore was known as “the voice”.  In his retirement Tony loved gardening; (he was known as the tomato man), boating, fishing, traveling and performing with his brother Frank.

Tony is survived by his wife Joanne (Monahan) Pavano, one step-daughter, Susan Ronzello and husband Robert of Southington; three step-sons, Jerry Holmes and wife Linda from San Diego, California, Dana Holmes and wife Doreen from Gardiner, Maine, David Holmes from Bristol; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother John Pavano of Cheshire, several nieces and nephews and two very special friends Judy Dworin and Blu.

Special thanks to the staff of Bristol Hospital Home Care and Hospice for their special care of Tony.
