Tony J. Gerk, 65, of 1176 Lancaster, Galesburg, died at 4:56 a.m. on Thursday, January 06, 2011 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.
Tony was born on March 15, 1945 in Galesburg, the son of Edward C. and Stella (Zefo) Gerk. He married Alberta Woolridge on January 19, 1965 in Galesburg. Tony is survived by his wife, Alberta of Galesburg; a son, T.J. Gerk II of Galesburg; a daughter, Tonya Rose of Galesburg; 2 granddaughters, Tiffany and Whitney Rose; a great grandson, Chase Arnett, and a great granddaughter, Analiah Lemus.
Tony worked in construction and was a member of Laborers Local 538 for 32 years, retiring in 1997. He was the fourth ward alderman for the city of Galesburg for 12 years. Tony served our country in the US Navy. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree member of Father J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556. Tony enjoyed working on cars with the Lugnut Liberation Army. He enjoyed raccoon hunting and fishing. But the most important thing to Tony was his family and spending time with them.
