BEATTY, TOM formerly of Ruidoso, NM died peacefully in Roswell, NM on June 16, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born on December 24, 1920 to Bert and Maggie Battey in Floydada, Texas where he resided until leaving to serve his country in the Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he met Betty Collier of Lovington, NM and they were married on May 7, 1947. They moved to Floydada, Texas and farmed until 1967 when they moved to Ruidoso, NM and purchased Whispering Pine Restaurant. They retired to Roswell, NM in 1995.

Tom is survived by his wife Betty, and sons, Rex and his wife Teresa of Ruidoso, NM and Kent of Silver City, NM. He was Papa Gran to his grandsons Matt and his wife Mendy of Austin, TX Marc and his wife Ashley of Ruidoso, NM and Max and his wife Kelly of Houston, TX. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren Benjamin, Ella, Carter, Anderson and Jackson Beatty. Also surviving him are his sisters Faye Bertrand and her husband William of Floydada, TX and Lorene Newberry of Weatherford, TX. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Wayne.

Tom was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Roswell.

Tom was an avid golfer with a wonderful sense of humor who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
