Tina was born October 8, 1965 in Chadron Nebraska to Jerry and Margy Kjerstad. From the very beginning she had an active, outgoing, curious and loving nature about her. As a young girl, Tina was involved in dance, sports and knew all the neighborhood kids.
She was an amazing cosmetologist and was even hired to work on movie sets in Hollywood. Tina took the time to teach others the art of beauty while still managing to run her studio.
Tina had a very special bond with her Dad Jerry who coached her softball teams and taught her the game of golf, including the cussing part and the liberal use of mulligans.
In 2000 she moved from Rapid City, SD to Boise, ID where she met the man of her dreams – Derek Hood. Her greatest joy was marrying Derek in 2004 and then their greatest gift was the birth of their son Dawson in 2008.
Tina was a wonderful caring Mother who dedicated her time and love with such natural ease. She was a great friend to so many as well, always inviting, fun, and energetic, no matter where she was or what she was doing.
In addition to being a wonderful mother, Tina was a dedicated wife, daughter, sister, aunt, activist and friend. Her life was full of giving at Dawson’s school, serving various charities in the community, and caring for her family and friends.
Tina was also involved with the restaurants and was passionate about their success and creating the friendly unique atmosphere that everyone enjoys today.
Grateful for having shared her life includes her husband Derek, son Dawson, mother Margy Kjerstad of Piedmont, SD, mother-in-law Kania Burkhart and father-in-law Lester Burkhart of Hot Springs, AR; sister Lisa Evans and her husband Jason Evans of Parker, CO, brother Rick Kjerstad and his wife Dana Kjerstad of Elizabeth, CO, nieces Sydney Kjerstad, Jenni Kjerstad, Katie Evans, Sydney Smith; nephews Jakob Kjerstad, Sean Evans, Spencer Smith and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Tina was preceded in death by her father Jerry Kjerstad; father-in-law Larry Hood; grandmother Margaret Williams, grandmother Ila Kjerstad and grandfather Elnoris Kjerstad and other relatives.
