Timothy Ryan Wineland, 48, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from a heart attack, in Waterloo, IA while working out of town.

Tim was born January 15, 1973, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Max and Jeanne (Keltner) Wineland, graduated from Dallas Center-Grimes High School, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State, and his Master’s Degree from Iowa State. While at Geology Field Camp in Wyoming in 1996 Tim met Hayley Shaffer who he later married on January 23, 2002. They made their home in Dallas Center where they raised their two sons, Cael and Bryce. Tim worked as a hydrogeologist for twenty years, the last five years for GHD.

Tim was a great man, a true family man who put his family at the top of his priority list. He was also a friend to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tim was dedicated to his work and cared for deeply by his family, friends, and co-workers. As Scout Master, Tim gave his time and talents back to his community. He thoroughly enjoyed road trips to National Parks with his family. Tim also enjoyed camping, canoeing, hiking, and fishing with his family. He made an impact on many people’s lives and will be dearly missed.

Tim is survived by his wife, Hayley Wineland; two sons, Caelen and Brycen Wineland; and his parents, Max and Jeanne Wineland, all of Dallas Center; sister, Terri (Jeff) Kuehl of Perry, IA; mother and father-law, George and Anita Shaffer of Buffalo, MO; sister-in-law, Jessica (Jordan Gittimier) Shaffer of Troy, MO; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Wineland.
