Timothy Paul Sweeney passed away at his home in Scottsdale AZ on May 31, 2021.

Tim was born on June 10, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana; son to  Mary and Paul Sweeney, brother to twin sister Teri,  and Patrick . He graduated from Western Michigan University and began a lifetime of what he referred to as “great adventures”.

Tim was an avid world traveler, who also loved cooking, and appreciated good music, scotch, cigars and wine.  He was a master photographer, poet, coach, school board member, and executive.

Tim was charming, gregarious and flat out hilarious.  He was a fan of all sports, especially Notre Dame Football and Cactus League Spring Training. For over 25 years, every March you could find Tim sitting in the front row of first base at Giants Stadium with a bag of peanuts wearing his signature safari hat.

After 30 years, Tim retired as Executive Director from National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS). During his tenure, he was privileged to attend a Radio Show in the Oval Office where the contributions of NLETS were recognized nationally by President Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno.

Tim was passionate about communication.  His deep commanding voice coupled with his desire to connect and educate his audiences with humor and purpose made his public speaking captivating and inspiring. In honor of his achievements and dedicated service, Tim was inducted into the NLETS Hall of Fame on June 21, 2007.

From the time he was a freshman in high school, maintaining and nurturing friendships continued to be a priority for Tim. He was the spark that ignited the fire. He will be missed.

In addition to the “great adventures”, Tim spent much of his 20 year retirement enjoying his family and friends at Fisher Lake in Three Rivers, MI and at his home in Scottsdale, AZ. He is survived by his 3 children, Tim, Teaser and Denyse as well as his 8 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.
