Lakeland – Thomas Wendell Jewell, 70, passed away, as a result of heart failure, Monday, March 4, 2013. He was born November 21, 1942 in Toombs County, GA. Mr. Jewell was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army National Guard, where he served for nine years. He was an employee of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for seven years. Mr. Jewell was a contractor in the construction industry.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Jewell; sister, Edna Mae King; and brother, Franklin Jewell. Mr. Jewell is survived by his daughter, Linda Jewell Baxter; granddaughter, Tiffany Baxter; sisters, Kathy (Roger) Alldredge and Mary (Mike) Stringer; brothers, Earnest (Barbara) Jewell, Kermit (Cynthia) Jewell, Bobby (Glenda) Jewell, Jimmy Jewell, David (Toni) Jewell and Kenneth (Carolyn) Jewell; and lots of nieces and nephews.
