Thomas V. Ciesielski, 84, of 737 7th St., LaSalle, died December 26, 2006 at the Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle, where he had resided 6 years, following an extended illness.

He was born January 28, 1922 in Rock Island to Victor and Lillis (Lee) Ciesielski. He owned and operated the Radio Cab, the first Radio Cab in the area. He worked at Libby Owens for 30 years. He was a graduate of LaSalle Peru Township High School. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II as a T-5 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations, mainly in New Guinea. He participated in the liberation of the Philippines and was a recipient of the Philippine Liberation Medal. He married Lucille M. Stachowiak on June 28, 1942 in Peru. He was a member of St. Patricks Church, LaSalle, a life member of the LaSalle VFW #4668, a member of the LaSalle American Legion, he served as Alderman of the 2nd ward for the City of LaSalle, he was a former member of the LaSalle CWV, a former member of the LaSalle Peru Elks, and a charter member of the Board of Directors for the State of Illinois Citizens Utilities Board.

He is survived by: 1 daughter, Eloise Dolly (Richard Nick) Nekrosius of LaSalle; 4 grandchildren, Laura Munson of LaSalle, Andrea Chapman of LaSalle, Greg Henry of Denver, Colorado, and Allison Brenzikofer of Denver, Colorado; and 2 great grandchildren, Nicholas Munson, and Annalyse Brenzikofer.

He was preceded by: his parents; his wife, Lucille, on October 24, 1986; 1 daughter, Joanne Henry; and 1 brother, John J. Ciesielski.
