Thomas “Tommy” Woodrow Mitchem Jr., 71, entered into new life on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Harris Hospice in Charlotte, NC. Born September 08, 1946 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late Thomas and Geneva Mitchem. He attended Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC and received his associate degree from CPCC in mechanical drafting. He owned and operated Mitchem Material Handling Inc. for 15 years. He was a very active individual serving as President of the Queen City Jaycees, President of the Queen City Corvette Club and very active in the Ducks Unlimited Organization. He was a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Providence Fire Department for 14 years. He was a Navy Veteran, serving our country for six years.
Those left to cherish his memories, his wife of fifty years, Aretha Mitchem; daughter, Allison and husband Faraz Syed of Mooresville, NC; granddaughter; Ariel Winter Syed of Mooresville, NC; sisters; Barbara and husband Frank Turner, Debbie and husband Boyd Collins; many nieces and nephews.
