THOMAS quot;TOMquot; HERBERT SCHAFFNER, age 84 of Manassas, Virginia died Friday, June 13, 2003 at Meadowbrook Assistant Living, Reva, Virginia. Mr. Schaffner was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Manassas. He was a graduate of the University of West Virginia and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. Mr. Schaffner retired from the Department of Commerce in 1975 after 32 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Thelma D. Schaffner, two sons, David H. Schaffner and his wife, Joyce of Warrenton and Joseph quot;Craigquot; Schaffner and his wife, Catherine of Fredericksburg, one sister, Barbara Ziel, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 7 grandchildren, including Christopher Schaffner and 11 great-grandchildren.
