Thomas R. Kelly, Jr., age 80, of Salem, died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Salem Community Hospital with his family by his side. He was born May 28, 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio, son of the late T. Russell Sr. and Bernice (Rich) Kelly. Tom was a 1951 graduate of Salem High School and attended Cleveland Bible College for 11/2 years. He had worked at the Electric Furnace Company, Paxson Machine Company and was self-employed as a mechanical engineer, computer aided draftsman and programmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a life-long photographer and had his own business, Kelly Photography. His other interests included computers, vintage cars and drag racing. His son, Steven T. Kelly; stepmother, Dorothy Hamilton Kelly; and brother, Jack A. Kelly also preceded him in death. His wife, P. Darlene (Smith) Kelly, whom he married October 12, 1957 survives him along with children, Kenneth (Carmen) Kelly of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Thomas R. III (Michelle) Kelly of Salem, Jeffrey (Diana) Kelly of Stafford, Virginia, Julie (Glenn) Singleton of Salem, Anita (John) Sposetta of Beloit and daughter-in-law, Pam Kelly of Salem; brothers, James W. (Nancy) Kelly of Salem, Fred Kelly of New Jersey, Philip Kelly of California; sister, Mary Lou (Donn) Beeson of Salem and sister-in-law, Joyce Kelly of Salem; 19 grandchildren, Olivia (Chris) Frye of Pittsburgh, Matthew T. Kelly of Salem, Matthew A. and Erin Kelly of Westerville, Ohio, Elaina and Brendon Hart of Salem, Vanessa and Michael Emmons of Homeworth, Zachary and Sarah Kelly of Locust Grove, Virginia, Shannon Singleton of Salem, Ethan Kelly of Salem, Gayla Singleton of Canton, Dustin Kelly of Stafford, Virginia, Kimberly and Kristen Sposetta of Beloit and Esau and Jacob Kelly of Ooltewah, Tennessee; and 5 precious great-grandchildren, Holden and Chandler Frye, Renae and Rachael Emmons and Braidyn Rae.
