Thomas “Tommy” Richard Backes, Sr. 55, of Brighton, passed away January 2, 2013 at his home. He was born February 10, 1957 in Denver, Colorado to Bill and Dorothy (Grummon) Harmon. He attended school in Commerce City.
Tommy was a resident of the Brighton area for 12 years. He was a mechanic the duration of his life.
In his free time, he took pride and enjoyment in restoring Camaros and drag racing. His passion was anything that had to do with cars.
Tommy is survived by his parents, Bill and Dorothy Harmon of Brighton; siblings Frances Hopkins of South Dakota, Charles Backes of Denver, Colorado, Cindy Andrews and spouse Howard of Dalhart, Texas, Bonnie Rogers of Brighton, Colorado, William Harmon and spouse Judi of Greely, Colorado; children, daughter, Brandy K. Miskinis and spouse Steve of Canada; son, Thomas Backes Jr. and spouse Kimberly of Littleton, Colorado; son, Justin Backes Bostick of Washington; son, Michael Backes of Washington; and daughter, Nicole Eigenberg and boyfriend David of Arvada, Colorado. Tommy had several grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Donna Burk, Diana Backes and brother James Burk.
