Thomas McNamara died on January 27, 2018 at his home in Manassas, VA. For many years Tom lived in Clifton, VA where he owned the Clifton General Store and the Main Street Pub. An elected member of the Clifton Town Council, Tom was active in the town’s civic and business affairs. Tom was born in Washington, DC on October 10, 1947 to James Henry and Jeannette McNamara and grew up in Silver Spring, MD. He graduated from Northwood High School in 1965 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Maryland in 1970. After a long career with the J.C. Penney Company (assignments in Baltimore, MD, Pittsburgh, PA and suburban Washington) Tom moved to Clifton in 1986. Tom is survived by children Sean Preston McNamara, James Henry McNamara, Kevin Thomas McNamara and Kathryn Rose McNamara (Adam Howell), his former wife Judy McNamara, brother Harry McNamara of New Mexico and many close friends.
