Born on March 24,1931 in Logansport, Tom was the son of Harold and Elsie (Rice) Slusser.

Tom was a 1949 graduate of Logansport High School. After graduation, Tom served in the Korean War from 1952-1954.

Upon returning home, Tom married the love of his life, Cecilia V. Rothermel, on January 9,1954 at St.

In 1975 Tom and Cecilia needed to make room in the business for their fast growing family and decided to make what would ultimately be their final career move into the highway construction & landscaping business, known as Slusser’s Green Thumb, Inc. where it continues to be successful.  It was truly a family business with Tom, Cecilia, their boys and only daughter all growing up and working at the company. Tom was very proud of his family and his business and worked hard to see both grow over the years.

Tom was a member of the American Legion Post 60, the VFW, and Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #66, and Knights of Columbus.

Once asked by one of the boys if he had any hobbies he said, “My business and family are my only hobbies”.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years, Cecilia, are sons, Dan (Krista) Slusser, Indianapolis, Frank (Beth) Slusser, Logansport, Mark (Carolyn) Slusser, Logansport, David (Laurie) Slusser, New Albany, IN, daughter Laura (Kevin) Yurs, Indianapolis, along with twelve grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
